Experience
Best Enjoyed
Those desiring an almighty black tea hit should drink Irish Classic tea straight. If you’re in a gentler mood, the strong, robust, and astringent flavour can be softened by a healthy serving of your favourite milk. For a true Irish experience, the milk can account for 1/3 of the cup, and a touch of your preferred sweetener turns it into a beautifully balanced treat.
Best Served
In true Irish style – with your teapot nestled in a knitted tea cosy and your favourite mug keeping your hands warm. Mugs are ideal for sharing Tae with guests, but if you’re feeling a bit classy, you can always prepare it in a fine china tea set.
Pairs With
Purists will love savouring the powerful flavour of Irish Classic tea on its own. However, this same strength makes it a great accompaniment to breakfast. This is the traditional pairing in Ireland as a strong cuppa is the best way to cut through the heaviness of their favourite breakfast – the classic fry-up. Later in the day, Irish tea pairs wonderfully with sweet treats like soda bread, barmbrack fruitcake, and your favourite bickies. For an Irish twist on the classic bickie, try Digestives, Hobnobs, Bourbons, Jammie Dodgers, or Custard Creams. When entertaining guests, tins of assorted biscuits are the traditional way go to.
Tea Time
Packing a powerful caffeine kick to match its strong flavour, this tea is ideal for mornings, giving you the fuel to sail through even the toughest days. For the Irish, the kettle never leaves the stove, with tea offering energy and social connection. However, evening tea sessions are reserved for nights when sleep isn’t high on the priority list!
